Wild Haven Resort

Wild Haven Resort

Hotel Overview

Wild Haven Resort is located at Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, in Madhya Pradesh - the tiger state of India. It is positioned to serve as an ideal home-base for wildlife tourists seeking a memorable jungle adventure in the wilds of Bandhavgarh.
The campsite is carefully maintained as a virtual extension of the forests that surround it, yet safely fenced all around. There is a plentitude of birds & mammals in the adjoining forests. Wake up in the mornings to cheery bird calls, and quietly marvel at the clear, star-studded heaven during the nights - the silence of the night often pierced by the shrill alarm call of chital herds heralding the passing of the tiger or leopard close-by.
The residential units consist of 14 twin-bedded residential units - all set in our large campsite sprawling over prime woodland covered with natural grasses, and dotted with giant mahua, sal, bamboo and dhak trees. These units are comprised of 6 ethnically constructed cottages, 5 safari tents, and a 3-room villa
The resort is equipped with the best infrastructure required to cater to the boarding & lodging needs of genuine wildlifers. The focus here is not on luxury or boisterousness, but on quiet & homely comfort.  The features of the resort are:
·         Comfortable, spacious rooms, with modern bathrooms.
·         Sit-out areas for each unit.
·         Large dining hall serving all meals for in-house guests.
·         Arrangement of twice-daily safaris into the tiger reserve on 4x4 Gypsy vehicles.
·         Scope of extensive nature walks around the campsite for the ardent naturalist & birdwatcher.
·         Arrangement of tribal dances if requisitioned by guests.
·         Cozy camp-fire areas.

ACCOMMODATION

The accommodation in Wild Haven Resort consists of 6 comfortable cottages, 5 safari tents and a 3-room villa, all set out widely in our large campsite. Provision of clean comfort, and practicality of design & layout is the prime focus at Wild Haven.
Each cottage consists of a large 16x16 sq ft bedroom, with a covered verandah in front, providing a sit-out area. The structure has been designed and executed by tribal artisans, using  local building material for walls and floors. Rough-hewn logs constitute the roof frames which are then covered by baked mud tiles on the outside, but well fortified inside by girders & false roofing to keep out the crevices. Attached bathrooms are tiled, containing all modern facilities.
The cottages are designed to give you the pleasure of ethnicity, combined with comfort. Large windows and proper natural lighting is an integral part of the design so that guests always feel an airy and well-ventilated aura.
The safari tents are pitched on raised platforms, each having a 12x14 sq ft bedroom, a large tiled bathroom with dresser, and a canopy-covered sit-out area in front.
Pitched strategically near the shade of giant mahua trees, with bamboo clumps and wild grass surroundings, the tents will give you the real pleasure of 'camping in the forest' but in perfect safety within our fenced campsite.
Each unit is cordoned off and amply screened by lush plants to provide for its own private open area, where you can take in the sun & air in absolute privacy and solitude.
Large parties or family groups will find our 3-room villa an ideal place for staying together in close comfort. Its large, high verandahs with sloping tiled roof, will add space and dimension to the rooms, and provide a homely feeling during their stay here.

FACILITIES

The facilities in Wild Haven Resort cater to all the intrinsic needs of the wildlife lover. This includes clean, comfortable accommodation, excellent cuisine, courteous staff, adequate number of safari vehicles, and an overall forest ambience within the camp.
The campsite is maintained as a virtual extension of the forests that surround it. Bamboo - the predominant plant of the area - abounds in the campsite too, as do the huge mahua & sal trees. Some fruiting and flowering trees have been planted randomly on the campsite, so as to attract a large variety of birds, thereby converting the resort itself into a bird-friendly habitat.
  • A large Dining Hall will serves breakfast, lunch & dinner to guests.
  • Evening tea / drinks can be had in the privacy and comfort of the verandahs or sit out areas provided to each unit.
  • Chilly winter evenings can be spent around cozy campfire areas.
  • A small open-air, mud-brick amphitheatre will be used to show wildlife films, tribal dances etc.
  • A large number of 4x4 safari vehicles are attached to the resort, so that guests don't have to miss out on even a single safari into Bandhavgarh tiger reserve.
  • In case guests are arriving by train, pick-up vehicles can be made available at Katni or Umaria railway stations.
  • Apart from the daily morning and evening safaris into the tiger reserve, we have additional arrangements for extensive nature walks, long forest drives in adjoining areas, visit to our village farmhouse, and outdoor luncheons at our nearby private estate, where a shallow running river might just invite you to plunge in..
